I've been checking out the Traxxion Dynamics website. Does anyone have experience with the Penske or Elka shocks that they sell? I know Ohlins has the great reputation...just wondering if the others are good, too.

I don't have personal experience with them but Traxxion Dynamics have a reputation for being good as well. I have not heard anything about Elka.

I have a Penske on my SV and it works well. the ride is improved and the rear end does not wobble like with the stock unit. When I go hard threw a tun now it is like the bike is in a vise, it just holds what ever like you pick. I would not have believed the diferance had I not experienced it. Good stuff. And the thing is I do not Even ride nearly as hard as a lot of guys do so I a can Imagen what a Penske must do for them.

And by the way the guys at Traxxxion are great. Mike helped me with my SV and is working with me on my ST. He rides a 595 Daytona so he can't be all bad.

Mark,

Thanks for the info. I think I'll definitely give them some business, either for the Penske or Ohlins.

As for Ohlins, if you have spent much time here at all you have heard my gush over and over about the Ohlins shock on the back of my Super III. It is the single best modification I have done to my bike. The difference in handling is tremendous. And the service I have recieved from Ohlins has been top notch. If you decide on an Ohlins, buy it directly from Ohlins and talk to Jerry, he will help you get it set up for your specific weight.

You won't be disapointed.

Hinckley,

So, Jerry is at Parts Unlimited in Janesville, Wisconsin? Is that the Ohlins you're referring to? I was thinking of ordering one from Traxxion, but you think it's better to get it from Parts Unlimited?

If you have not already talked to Mike at Traxxion you should. I have talked to several other people about the shock choices and what I have heard is what you will hear from Mike. They Carry quite the range of shocks and will give you the strait stuff on them all. No pressure no hype just what counts.

No, Jerry is at Ohlins.

Purchase your shock from Ohlins directly. If you speak to Jerry in service, he will set your shock up for you before it is shipped out.

Hinckley,

Okay, thanks. I couldn't find any address but their 3 distributors on the Ohlins website, so I thought you meant one of them.

Hinckley,

I talked to Jerry at Ohlins, and to the guy at Traxxion Dynamics. Traxxion says they recommend the Penske over Ohlins now, that Penske's design results in better compliance, while still giving firm control. He recommends the double-adjustable Penske, which is about $180 less than the Ohlins.

I have no doubt that the Ohlins is great, but I might give the Penske a try.

Does your Ohlins have the hydraulic remote adjustment for preload, and if so, does it work well?
