MPH reading with 17 tooth front sprocket

I installed my 17 tooth front sprocket on my 02 daytona. Just wondering how much my speedo will be off having the smaller gear? I took it for a spin in town and it read faster than I knew I was going, at least I think.

Thanks
Andy

That doesn't effect you speedo. The sensor is on the front tire.

The speed sensor is on the front wheel, so you won't see any change with the new sprocket.

It's just getting there quicker!

But yes, your speedo is definitely 'fast' - by about 10% (maybe even more) but as the other guys said, nothing to do with the gearing. They come out of factory with that error built-in (odometer mileage however is somewhat accurate)

Thanks for the reply. I thought the sensor was in the front tire, and was confused why it seemed to be reading fast. Its probably that It was the first time out this season and that these bikes are just soooo smooth riding.
