Tire Question

Has anyone used Shinko 005 on their tonas? $150 a set is tempting, but I dont know if it a good for my bike.

I realize they are not 005s but..... I purchased a set of wheels for one of my other bikes that came with a set of Shinko 003s on them. I installed them on the bike and have about 75 miles on them. So far, I am not impressed. I don't feel as though they handle well at all. JMHO, YMMV.

I have the Shinko 009's on my Daytona now. I've put about 500 miles on them so far. Its a higher mileage tire and isnt the most aggressive. Though I am not an agressive rider.
So far I think they're great. The tire has a rounded profile and doesnt lean as quickly as the new tires on the market.
I havent had any problem with them. But then again I am no knee dragger. That said, I've put the tires in some pretty hard high speed turns (riding in groups has that effect on me)and still had no complaints.
If you just ride to ride and dont like replacing a set of expensive tires every season. I highly recommend them. I plan to try the 005's after these.
Oh by the way. I hear Yokahama had something to do with Shinko. So they arent completely new to the tire industry.

troy96,

Mike Seate at Motorcyclist reviewed the Shinko Stealth tire this month. Overall verdict is 3 out of 5 stars. Apparantly some track riders found that at higher speeds, the tires didn't grip as well as other buns. This tire is geared more towards "straight line" riders. To requote Mike's last commen:

"Great tires for drag racing, sport touring, and main street profiling on that slammed and lowered 'busa."

The review was neither glowingly positive or negative. Though $150 a set (plus shipping) sounds like a deal, I'd be more inclined to drop another $100 on a set of better performing tires. You can find Pilot Powers online for $250 including shipping.

Thanks for the info guys.

I have Pilot Powers on now and like them. I just think I need to see what else is out there before I commit to the same thing again.

Look at the pilot road 2ct, Same compound on the sides as the pilot power, but with a harder compound in the center.
