Fuel Pump Relay?

Hey Guys, I have an 04 955i and took it out for a spin yesterday. Had to jump it off due to home charger going bad but bike ran fine but eventually died. This had happened before and I usually jump it back off, limp it home, and give it a good overnight charge. But this time bike would not jump and I don't here the fuel pump activate. I checked small fuses and all are ok. Can anyone point me in the right direction and if it is the fuel relay which one is it? Thanks - Web

Web, Make sure the battery cables are tight. I'll post later after I double check, but the rearmost relay on the right side of the subftame and the relay next to the fuse box can be swapped with any other relay with the same p/n. IIRC the relay next to the fuse box is the ignition and the other is main power. Also try cycling the kill swith a few times.

Thanx Brad, I went through the process off cutting the kill switch on and off and tried it with the key as well...no luck. I tightened the cables down also but again.. no luck. Thanks for looking into this for me. - Web

Web, Just double checked my earlier post and those two relays are the ones to swap. I also looked at if in gear/sidestand down, will the fuel pump prime. Yes. You might also want to ensure the connector for the fuel pump is connected at the tank.

More than likely it's gonna take a new battery, IMHO.

Brad, with a bad battery, will it still turn over, light turn on, etc.. and the fuel pump not activate? The battery is less than a year old. I'm learning the Triumph electrical gremlins as I go along

Web, With the key on is there any display on the LCDs? When you switch from off to on, do you hear any of the relays click?

If nothing seems to work (swapping relays, double checking fuse 5 and anything else you can think of), try disconnecting the battery, cycle on/off with the key to dicharge the ECU's memory. Wait about 15 mins. and reconnect the battery and try to restart.

The Sagem ECU used in the Triumph is a power hungry little buggar and I've seen many odd ball problems emulated with a weak battery.

Brad

PS Okay I gotta ask, is there fuel?

PPS Anyone else got ideas???

PPPS Is there an alarm in the circuit?

Yeah the display comes on and there is clicking but not the familiar whine of the fuel primer. I will follow your suggestions tommorrow and see if it takes. I'm changing home charging systems and leaving it on an additional 24 hours. Thanks again - Web
