Question Bent bar???

A couple of months ago I dropped my 2000 Daytona 955i on the shed floor(luckily onto the carpet so no scratches)
It landed on the right hand side and bent the front brake lever, squashed the indicator and broke the mirror.
Ive just replaced the brake lever and indicator and took it for a test ride today but it feels a bit "funny" to ride, like its pulling a bit, especially when Im going around a right hander. It just feels like its handling a bit weird.
I came home and found the front tyre pressure a little low(33) so I fixed that.
I was wondering if there is any chance that side of the handle bars might have bent and if there is anything I can do to check/rectify the problem or will I have to take it to a shop.
I can see where they are bolted on with the hex bolts but visually, it seem to look OK.
Hopefully its something simple I can do myself.

I guess I'll just take it to the shop then?

tomtom67,

Bent clip ons could provide "funny" steering.

2 things to check:
1. Alignment of clip ons. Not so much bent, but make sure the clips ons are same height and same degree.
2. Also, check to see if your forks are twisted. IE foke tubes are twisted inside of triple clamps.

i cant see dropping it on the side doing that much damage to the steering. it the bar is bent then you might experience a different feel, thus a feeling of a pull to one side or another.

i would sit the bike on the stand, and turn the bars full lock one way, and notice the position of the bar end to the tank or frame. then do the turn full lock the other way....see if there is a noticable difference....if so change the one clip on...

Yeah, check for this. It happened on my KX 500. It was really annoying when turning, just as you've described.

My 05 955 is at the dealership now with the same issue. Came off the kickstand in my drive while warming the engine. Seems as though the twisted fork theory is fairly common. Dealer said they jack the front of the bike loosen a couple bolts on the triple clamps and it straightens itself back out.

I'll post an update once the issue is taken care of.

Cheers!
