Cold weather starting

I just bought an 03 tona 955i and need it for commuting back and forth to do errends. Usually this is done in weather that is under 40 degrees F. I keep the bike in a carport so it is exposed to the cold just not the rain or other elements besides temperature. Okay problem is this, under 40 degrees F won't kick over, will crank but not start. Temperature goes above say 50 and starts right up. Any help or suggestions as to how to solve this dilemma would be greatly appreciated. I have had the bike out a number of times, this is like my first litre bike and I love it. I moved up from a 600cc rice burner so I really would love to make this bike work for me. It is indeed a beastly monster and I love it. Thanks

MY 03 Tona is a bit of a cold starter but it's interesting how it works. It will never start on the first crankover, but will on the second. It's like the ECU needed to figure out where it needed to be. So. I crank the bike for 2 seconds, the I use the Stop switch to turn the bike off and back on. This I recrank for the start of the bike. Hasn't failed me yet.

Dunno what to say, my 99's quite a bit different in design but it loves the cold weather for starting!

Ditto with my 02 955. It cranks for a good 10 secs, then starts, then stalls, then is fine on restart. Must be a combination of the tune, pipes, etc. Are you using an aftermarket can? I've got the high mount Jardine and the latest aftermarket tune (using the stock ECU and not Tuneboy or similar).

I have discovered this idea seems to work, it was like 40 degrees outside this morning and I applied this procedure and it kicked right over. Also the pipe is a carbon fiber high mount and has a tune boy to go with it. I appreciate all of the help that you folks give to me. I will get used to this way of doing things, I have ridden the bike a number of times and just love it. It has a nice awesome deep throaty sound on take off, thanks guys.
