Stupid, stupid, stupid. the seat is not a shelf

Normally, I never rest anything that can be damaged on my seat. But today, I was talking to the Wife and balanced my solo seat cowl on my seat and bent over to plug in my battery tender and crash! My solo cowl fell to the floor and broke a huge chunk off.

Just venting!

Anyone have a caspian blue one that I can talk you out of?

Pinballer-

Don't beat yourself up too bad. The way I see, if it wasn't for these crappy Pennsylvania winters we wouldn't need battery tenders because we'd be ridin'. Hence, a stationary seat cowel. I'll keep my eye out for a blue one.

Boy, it's good to know I'm not the only one with a scratched up seat cowl and helmet! I used the methods described above to customize them.

I have done the helmet way. Luckily not the cowling. Funny thing is, I needed to hook the charger this morning to get the bike started, when I took off the cowling I was about to set it on my seat, and remember this reading this post.

I used some plastic epoxy to repair and it seems strong. I coated the underside tonight again to help strengthen the repair. All is well, and I am not going to do that again.

I am considering making a port on the left infill panel and mounting the battery tender pigtail there so I don't have to remove the cowl on a regular basis.

Yes I hear your pain.
I am guilty as charged as well, when I recently sat my new Shoei helmet on the seat, turned and reached for my gloves on the bench only to turn back to view the helmet strap sliding over the seat and then that ugly series of crunch, boing, thump sounds of a $600 helmet going from almost brand new to filling in the rubbish bin.
Good luck with getting a replacement cowl.

Thanks for looking out! That one is a bit different.

I epoxyed mine and other than a hairline crack, it is back together and on the bike.

Thanks,
Ed
