LED Instrument lighting

Hi all, I have a Sprint RS, and posted this on the Sprint forum, then realized that the Daytonas and S3 models have the same cluster, So I'm cross posting:

Well, I had some free time on my hands and decided to change the bulbs in my instrument cluster to LED's.

First step was to identify the actual bulbs, since there is no reference to them in the manual.

Here is the front and opened back of the cluster:

notice the 2 large and 4 mini bulbs. they all just twist out of the housing, and they look like this:

The larger bulbs are T1 1/2 (4.5mm) wegge base bulbs and the smaller are T1 1/4 panel mounts
Here are the shots of the replacement bulbs:

these are the mini replacements BUT the LED is too long to fit in the cluster, so I had to remove them from the twist housing, and silicon them to the board, then solder the leads to the circuit board. Here is a shot just before I soldered them:

The only real issue was to identify the positive and negative sides if each socket ( they are not all the same!) a few minutes with a multimeter sorted it all out.
That done, here is the result (couldn't get the indicators to light, but they are quite bright)

look at my photo album for the bulb sources.
