kick stand

try bypassing your stand switch...maybe the switch is not registering that the stand is still down, in which case the bike will die. hope it is as easy as this.

That is what it sounds like, something with the kickstand switch. I actually had that happen to me the other day, but it was my fault. When I tried to kick up the stand, I didn't get it all the way up, and didn't realize it. I was freaking out, then I looked down. OOps.

If you have a rear stand, put the bike up on a rear stand, put the side stand up, and try it. If it still kills, unplug the side stand sensor, and if it's supposed to be a closed circuit use a jumper wire, and then try it. It may be a faulty sensor, or your side stand may be down.

Not to sound like a dick, but you are aware that there is a sensor that will kill the machine if it's put in gear with the side stand down, aren't you?

The first few months I had my Daytona I did that all the time, left the stand down when I put it in 1st. Just old habits.
