Triumph soft luggage fitment.

I just recieved my "Triumph" Soft luggage and I have a question about the panel protectors.

I brought these things from Ebay and the manual states that these will go on my 03 Tona "02 and above Speed Triple, Tona, and TT600". The bags fit perfect, but the protector panels aren't even close. Is anyone here using the triumph soft luggage (saddlebags) with the protector panels, or do you just lay the bags directly on the back fairing?

makton3g,
Don't ever lay the saddle bags against the body panels unprotected because you'll have scuff marks on the paint in less than 2 miles. Dirt will get between the bags and bodywork and act like sandpaper ruining your paint in no time flat!
I don't use soft luggage anymore but when I did I'd use clear plastic box tape like this
http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=172056
laid down in strips long enough to protect the areas where the luggage touched the body panels. I'd put down 4 or 5 layers which would last over the course of a weekend trip. Afterward I'd peal it off and use spray wax to clean off the tape residue.
If you plan to leave the bags on all the time just keep an eye on the tape for wear but change it regularly (every couple weeks) or it will be too hard to remove and the tape glue will be a lot harder to get off once the tape is removed. Worked for me...

before i made my famous hard bag racks...i used the soft bag systems, i want to say it was a set of Tour Master soft bags....I did the clear tape trick and the clear contact plastic. They both do the job ok....the contact plastic came off easier and is a little thicker so you dont have to build so many layers as with the tape.

You have to buy the panel protectors separate from the bags in the states. They are worth every cent. They are made by Triumph and fit like a glove.

Brooksie, thanks for posting up the pics. Those are exactly what I've been needing. The only accessories book that I've seen had them listed, but with no pics showing how they look & fit. I was under the impression they were the same anti-scratch/slip pad thats offered with the soft bags that my buddy got when he ordered them for his Sprint.
In the past when I've needed the bags, I'd put down a layer of the clear contact paper to get to my destination. Then rip it off for a few days, just to have to put it on again for the return home.(A REAL P in the ***).
Just 1 question, are there any ill effects from leaving it on all/most of the time? I try to keep her clean & shiny, & would hate the thought of trying to protect it only to scratch her up.
