Popping from Hi mount CF exhaust on decel???

I have a 2001 Triumph Daytona 955i.....2100 miles on it....Triumph factory hi-mount CF exhaust. The most recent download was done at the Triumph shop for that pipe. I still getting a lot of popping on decel at all RPM's. Any thoughts??? I wouldn't call it back firing just ..popping.

normally a result of the secondary air injection fitted, you need a tune that takes that into account or disable it, it chucks air into the exhaust at certain revs and under throttle shut down, effectively burning excess fuel in the exhaust for emmissions, but the result is pop pop

Glad you asked; I've been meaning to ask the same question about my '04. And you're spot on; it's not a backfire, just a pleasant burble. I actually kind of like it.

Does an '01 have a secondary air intake. Is it better to disable or re-map?
Will disabling create other problems?

popping

I don't normally respond too much as I am new to triumph bikes and thier tendencies,but.....brother's Ducati( same principles ) is under going some serious work now, been fighting a "popping" in the exhaust for a year.It has just developed into a complete valve job as the ECU chip was running lean at times and took out the intake valve in the vertical head.

Depends on what market it was built for, but I believe most don't. Look at your valve cover; if it's got some busy stuff on the front it has it. If you disable I beleive you'll need to remap.

Engines do it naturally, it's nothing to get worried about.

I too enjoy the sound of an engine on deceleration. My 'tona cuts off the fuel when decelerating with the throttle closed. Fuel gets restored as the engine falls below 3,000 rpm; it's a joyous sound!
