Lifting a SSSA caution

Hi All, I had the rear on the Triumph paddock stand with the rear wheel removed. While using a jack under the header pipe to get the front wheel off the ground I almost dropped the D955i on me (literally) as the right side of the stand came off of the garage floor.

As I've jacked up the front numerous times with the rear wheel installed without problem I was pretty surprised that the rear wheel was such a major counterweight. My 'fix' was to place two 50 lb. bags of concrete on the right rear corner of the stand.

This isn't to start a paddock stand thread, just to inform those with the Triumph stand (or a similar design) of this.

My solution to that, Tie downs from the rafters that go around each side of the handle bars. I jack up a little, then tighten the tie downs.

Sort-of...

I work as an engineer professionally but my degree is in management. I gained a lot of experience as a launch vehicle systems engineer (rocket scientist while in the military and my current employer put me to work as an engineer.

I was thinking about getting a second Bachelors but I'm not sure yet.

Putting a jackstand under the rear shock linkage works too...just support the bike with straps as Techman said...

Or two jackstands under to footpegs...

That works too...

Hmm...handn't thought of that one. No risk of damage to the rearsets?

I didn't have any damage when I did it. I did put a couple of rags on the jackstands but it worked out okay...

Same here! Looks about as redneck as it can get, but function is what I was after. To remove your forks put the straps around the top tubes of the frame instead of the handlebars.
