Question Single Swingarm vs Conventional model

I notice the Daytona's for sale the 2001/2 models with the normal swingarm seem to go very cheaply compared to the single ones. Is their much difference in the handling of the 2001/2 compared to the later Daytona's? Decision buy a 2001 low km, buy a 2006 demo, or wait and see if a 1050 Daytona's shows up.......

I've only ridden single side swingarm Daytonas, but I doubt there's much difference for >95% of road riders. It's just a style thing. And I've gotta say, the look of that rear wheel with the high pipe and SSSA gives me chills. I love it.

My understanding is that the double-sided is lighter, and so theoretically superior. But I'm sure the real world difference is tiny, and since the Daytona is not really a cutting-edge track bike anyway, I think you should just pick what looks best to you. I like the looks of the SSSA and the ease of maintenance it provides.

I've heard that the SSSA is not as stiff as the DSSA, but I don't think that would be an issue unless you plan to race the bike.

With the SSSA and hi-pip it is very easy to change the rear wheel. Chain adjustment is also very easy.

I don't believe that Triumph has any plans for a 1050 Daytona.

My only concern about buying a demo Daytona would be demo riders riding it "like the stole it". It may have not seen the kindest break-in period. On the other hand, you will get a warranty.

DALERF, We've two SSSAs and one DSSA in the household. The DSSA is slightly raised in the rear, compared to the other two which steepens rake and shortens trail just a tad. The rear wheel is also 5.5 ins. wide and wears a 180-55 instead of a standard 190-50 (one of the SSSAs has a 180-55 rear) so turn-in is a wee bit quicker and high speed stability is the same as the other two.

The DSSAs aren't cheaper around here, BTW.
