Question Where's the hose?

While removing the fuel tank from my 04 Daytona to get at the air filter, I noticed there is no hose connected to the fuel pressure regulator on the side of the tank. The Triumph manual clearly says to remove the hose as one of the steps for removing the tank. I can't find any hose end without a home underneath the tank anywhere, and the bike runs fine.

What's the deal?

oldyeller, There is no hose on my '04 either...I don't remember 100%, but I don't think the '02 has one either.

Thanks, Bradtx. I couldn't remember for sure whether it was there the last time I had the tank off or not. Strange, isn't it? Did they decide at some point the fuel pressure regulator was unnecessary?

oldyeller, My best SWAG is that once the lambda sensor was placed into the system the adjustable FPR wasn't necessary.

I'll buy that, since I don't even know what a lambda sensor is (sounds vaguely dirty)!

Earlier models had a short hose connected that didn't go anywhere. On later models Triumph omitted the hose altogether, but since the regulator didn't change the nipple stayed. The regulator just vents to atmosphere.

Sure; when in doubt, call it an extra nipple!

My guess (that word lets me off the hook if I'm wrong) is that the pressure regulator is built into the pump, or that the pump is self regulating. There are no connections on my bike between the fuel rail, etc. and the tank, other than the fuel line. The two nipples serve these functions:
One runs up to the cap and is connected to the air space inside the tank when the cap is closed; thus it's the vent connection. My vent hose had a check valve in it which the dealer removed to no effect.
The other connects to the hole under the cap cavity and drains off any fuel spillage (God forbid that happens!).
