Unhappy Dead 955I question

I saw the post a few threads below but mine seems to be different.

Like I said I have a 02 955I Daytona, Some of you might know me.

Today I drove to the library not too far from my home.
The bike started to sound like it was idiling too low almost like it would die so I began giving it extra throttle while I stopped at lights.

I made it to the library and when I went to leave and start the bike it sounded like a dead battery, so I let it sit a total of about 15 minutes and came back and the bike started after some persuasion.

A mile down the road the bike just stopped and I coasted it out of traffic.

It didn't start after that. I called for assistance and recieved a charger and gallon of premium gas. Nevertheless the bike didn't start (The starter was working fine it just wouldn't turn)

I let it cool for a few hours and came back and it still didn't start.

Here is some background:
For the last few weeks the battery hasn't been holding a charge (I have had it checked but its in tip top shape).

The other day I was a home ready to do a couple of errands and had no gas in the tank. I had a couple gallons of regular unleaded laying around, I poured one gallon into the almost empty tank. (my bad I know regular isn't good).

Im planning on riding my bike out to Iowa on Saturday from Colorado for school.

Any recomendations? I need the help A.S.A.P.

Thanks Guys!!!

Check to see if all the fuses are still good. I got stranded a few weeks ago because my alternator fuse blew and it ran the battery down to the point that my bike just died on me. If you've been having a problem with the battery holding a charge, you may have the same problem that I did.

I recommend getting the battery, the charging system AND the starter and its wiring checked out. You mentioned that the battery is in tip top shape, but if it isn't getting charged properly it won't last long. And, a problem with the starter or the wiring can seem like a battery problem. Insist that the shop you take it to does a current draw test on the starter if nothing else is found. While they're at it, have the fuel pressure checked, Perhaps you have a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump beginning to fail. Good Luck, and by all means, make sure it's roadworthy before you attempt that long of a ride!

The bike slowing and dieing in traffic could be the result of a clogged fuel filter, going back to your gas situation.
But that doesn't explain the dead electrical system. That sounds like a grounding problem. My S-3 was always a slow starter until one day it finally got to the point that it would not start at all. I took it in and they checked and cleaned some connections but it didn't help. I took it back in and they replaced one ground and added an additional wire. That took care of it. It now starts better than it ever did.

My 2004 Daytona 955i did the same thing. I took it my Triumph dealer and told them what happened. They ran some diagnostics and found a faulty Regulator/Alternator. They replaced it under warranty and I have had no problems since.
