I've had a knee down twice, but it took a lot of effort (read: stupidity). For anyone familiar with the Boston area both were at the turn from Fenway onto the Riverway. A fast left turn that's just tight enough to get a knee down. Never taken it to a trackday, I dream of it though. She's absolutely trackworthy, but the Tona is also the first "SO" bike and my commuter.

I've had my '02 on a closed road course, at a local community college, for a riding school. It wasn't a "trackday", but before the morning was over, I was dragging knees with confidence. I'm going to a TrackAddix day at Brainerd on Monday, so I'll try to give you more feedback after that.

If you want to make a habit out of doing trackdays, DON'T SKIMP ON THE SUSPENSION!! I will be getting a Penske for the rear in the near future, and I've already had the front resprung with weight apropriate springs + Gold Valves installed. The difference is literally night and day. If you do anything, get your forks setup by a professional. I run Qualifiers, everyone has their own opinion about tires, and these are what work the best for me. This is another area not to skimp on. I've had people tell me that Pilot Powers are better, and 2CTs are better, but those are the same people that I am passing. It all comes down to what gives you the best feedback, and confidence.

If you take your Daytona out on a track, you're gonna have a blast, and if the rider is up for it, they can run with most anything out there.

king4456, The D955i performs like any sportbike would be expected to perform. On spirited street rides it can hold any position in the pecking order the rider wants to occupy.

On the track it's much the same. The D955i just can't out muscle the new litre bikes or out turn/brake the lighter middleweights.

Brad

PS, frankentona, good pic.

Thanks, leaning like that just takes practice, and confidence in your equipment.

The photo is compliments of Momentum Photo (momentumphoto.net), it's a shameless plug, but the man does good work, and he's a cool guy in real life. He rocks a KTM motard.

I have found the bike is far more capable than I am and I am planning on doing some instructed trackdays with her next spring to get the confidence. Equipemnt is vital, even just riding on the street. If you lack confience in your set up, it's time to stop and retool before you have any doubts whatsoever.
