02 daytona/00RS just died while driving

I was just driving the other day and my bike just died. I pull over and turn the key on and off and everything seems normal except that my fuel pump isnt turning on, so I figure that it is just a bad pump, or a little connection problem. I get home, tear it apart and test the fuel pump and it is still ok. It turns out that the pump wasnt grounding out, I checked the wire and it just goes strait to the ECM. So I just manually ground the pump out and it worked fine but didnt shut off after the 3 seconds once the key is turned on. So I said ok, i will still try and start the thing, and it still wont start, so I go and I check spark, no spark! and I just cant seem to figure out how exactly this is happening, what else could it be besides a bad ECM? I have already checked all of my fuses and they checked out ok. I dont think that this bike has a fuel relay so????I have also checked my grounds, they all seem to be intact. The only reason that I am so hesitant about it being the ECM is because they never go out, I have called a dozen different mechanics and they said they dont know, and that it sounds like a bad ECM but they thought that other things should go bad as well. On top of that, they say that they never go out, only one in a million....so..... I have also thought about, the kickstand switch, the clutch control, and the neutral switch...but I havent checked them, they seem to be alright. I could really use some advice/help...
Thanks,
John

A year or two ago, someone had a similar problem. I never found out one way or the other if he had any resolution to that.

I know this is a stupid question and you've probably already checked it but is the bike in Neutral or is the kickstand up when you're trying to start it?

If the stand is down and the bike is in gear, it will not start...

just checking!!!

Bad coil perhaps?

Did you check for spark on just one or all 3 cylinders? I don't know if she'll run on just two or not (never tried it).

Also, is your battery low or getting old? My bike wouldn't start a while back and I charged the battery overnight. It fired right up the next day...

have checked spark in all 3 cylinders, while swapping plugs. And a 955 will run on 2 cylinders....almost sounds like a v-twin....but not quite.

While idling, do your lights pulsate at all? Get brighter and dimmer as the engine runs?

Maybe a tiny bit when first started at idle.
