R1 better than 955i?
For those like me, missing a liter class sport Triumph:
Is the R1 good enough to replace a 955i?
Follows a pic of an incident with a R1 in wet road in SC state, Brazil. Wonder why had to change the filter before the wekend!

i agree with Japawhat02....im not 100% sure what you are trying to ask....the R1 is a better bike, on the track...in the twisties. but all modern litre bikes are more capable of what most of us are able to ride. but if you asked me, i would choose the Tona over the R1 anyday....why...because i ride it almost everyday...its a GREAT all round bike.....the other Japanese bikes are to focused to be able to do everything good. plus the Tona isnt sitting on every corner like the R1,GSXR,Ninja,CBR-RR....but hey....choose the bike that makes YOU happy...
and oh yeah....who is the lady?...nice...my brother married a Brazillian lady a few years back.....from Victoria

Depends on what you want to use the bike for. If you are looking for all out, no compromise performance, the R1 (or any of the liter class bike from Japan) is a "better" bike - at the expense of comfort. Probably better than you and about 90% of the people who own them.

I recently bought a Daytona 05' SE in black, 2600miles, I had the money to buy a blade or r1 or gixer but none of the bikes I sat on chose me, if you understand that setiment. The SE did that for me - A bike I will look after and cherish hopefully for many years to come. If thats the definition of a better bike, maybe like the Bandit12 - the daytona is better than the sum of its parts, its early days of ownership so lets wait and see..........Gaps.

Rode a R6 a few weeks ago; Quick to lean, but woobles at low speeds in the city or parking lots. Had to keep revs up all time using clutch. Poor aero protection and digital panel numbers too small to be read; Funny in twisties, though. Guess R1 is about the same with much, much more power, is that right?

I don't know either, but it's a shame to drop something as nice as that on the road and damage it.... or the bike either.

That pretty much sums it up. All that extra power does change the dynamics of the bike so you had better be really good with your right wrist coming out of a turn. Twist too much and you become a part of the scenery.
A lot of experienced track riders actually have faster lap times on 600s than 1000s because the liter bike is such a beast.

One of the recent things I read about the R1 is that something gets lost in the translation between the throttle and what/when the results get to the rear wheel. I've never ridden one myself so I can only report on what I've read. Evidently the bike has a few electonic problems, that were described as a lag in the fly by wire. Maybe its one of those bikes best built for the track where you can keep the power & rpm up high where its happier?
Maybe somone here has some real time on one & could report better.
May be that poor lass is going to have a nasty boo-boo.
Maybe I do have some nice soothing anti-bacterial lotion that I'd be willing to apply on said boo-boo for her. Maybe I should've stopped at the 3rd maybe.

I rode an R1 in Austria last year. Not for long, but long enough to know that's one seriously powerful, very tight, controlled bike. I didn't notice any sort of lag or delay, but I'd bet that's the sort of thing you'd never notice unless you've got hours of seat time on a wide variety of hyperbikes.
I'll take my Daytona, thanks very much.
It's very annoying that the spell checker wants to replace "Daytona" with "Dayton."
