Hello, I am new to the website. I send my greetings. I am also new to motorcycles.

I purchased a 02' Daytona 955i CE. Love the bike, can't stop riding it!

I was wondering what the first things I should do for a used bike, such as taking it to a dealer, checking fluids, recalls... any advice?

As far as driving motorcycles (versus cars) is it bad to ride in the 5000+ RPM range for very long. I only ask because there is better power up there versus the lower RPMs. (seems high but you have a 11000 limit)

Also, the bike has a power commander; anyone have any experience with one and have some advice about it?

Go to http://www.triumph.co.uk/usa/4799.aspx and find out if there are any recalls or bulletin work pending.

Near or over 12K miles? Time for a valve check.

Won't hurt a bit.

Widely used method to alter the tune in order to compensate for aftermarket cans and fine tune engine characteristics.

As you sound quite new to motorcycling I suggest visiting a Triumph dealer for the technical parts. Many m/c shops offer class' periodically to familiarize new riders with the basic maintenance issues...usually they're free. If you haven't had any experiance or instruction I suggest some riding courses.

Unless you have the service records from the previous owner, it's not a bad idea to change the oil, filter, and coolant.

Also, unless the PO was about the same weight as you and had set the suspension, you might want to set the damping and pre-load to the factory "default" settings in the owner's manual.

Welcome to the site. And congrats on the bike. I would at least to the oil change and check the air filter. The basic maintenance as you don't know what the other person was like. Also cruising at 5000 rpms is fine. I usually am around there when on the freeway.
