I am looking into purchasing an 02' Daytona 955 but have a few questions for the experts here. Has anyone used one of these as a track day bike? I would like to use it as a track day bike and for some 2up riding with the wife.

Any problem areas that I should look for? It is for sale at my local dealer, whom I hope has performed all the recent/past recall work, but I want to check everything for myself. Thank you in advance for all your help/advice.

Clopstyle, Tho' none of the D955is in this household has been used on a trackday, they have been all over the world with good results.

Two up on the '02 and '04 D955is is pretty good for the pillion as they're fairly roomy for a sport bike.

IMO its too nice for a track bike. :-D :-D :-D
if its going to be a track only bike I would go with something else, just because parts will be cheaper and easier to find if/when you do some tarmac body surfing, but if your going to use it for an occasional track day then with a few suspension tweeks and a regear, you'll be fine :hammer: :hammer:

Hate to say it, but I think it's not the best choice...both the trackdays (and all involved such as pre-track mods and post-track repairs), and the 2-up riding (my wife HATES pillion on the daytona, it puts her up too high) are better served by.....

an SV650.

Can't go wrong with a low-mileage specimen from 2000-2002.

My advise for choosing a bike to ride two-up: Try it yourself.
I rode on the back of a friend's Speed Triple a couple of months ago and now I understand why my wife won't ride on the back anymore. IT'S SCARY AS HELL!

Probably not the best choice for what you want to do. A Sprint ST is a better choice for 2 up. For a track bike suggest you pick up a "dropped by the previous owner" Yamasaki 600 - plenty of them out there ad you'll find a lot more aftermarket support for them than a Triumph.
