I'm going to purchase some tire changing equipment soon.. as I am going to be doing trackdays. I plan on switching track tires for street tires fairly regularly.
I'm looking at the harbor freight stuff since it isn't very expensive.
I can get the tire changer/ motorcycle tire changer for about $110 shipped closeby on e-bay.. What else do I need to change tires?
Also what do you guys know about chains? I've never changed one myself, but would like to have the tools and know how. Thanks.

Concerning the tire mounting equipment... I would imagine that the stand and whatnot comes with the proper tire-iron(s) and bead-breaker. So the only other things you would need are an air compressor, valve-stem tool, and an inexpensive paint brush. Get yourself a small can of some sort and fill it with a liquid soap and water solution (about 30/60 mixture) and use the paint brush to wipe that on the tire beads before mounting. That's about all there is to it in the way of tools. If you can get a bubble-balancer for motorcycle tires that would definitely be worth it also, as even after you save the money mounting your own tires you'd have to have them balanced. Of course if you did get the balancer you'd need some wheel-weights. All of the above mentioned can be had through "Harbor Freight" or a similar store/catalog.

Why not invest in another set of rims...have one set for track tires and another set for street. Easier to change rims than tires and you don't run as much risk of boogering something up.

I bought harbor freight tire changer with the motorcycle attachment. now I'll need to focus on how to balance the tires. Anyone have an know the size of the axle to fit on a balancer front and rear? Does anyone have a link to a balancer that works for an 04 daytona?
