Have just modded a mhp high pipe n oval can to fit my 955fi(have now found out what i have bought lol).
thing is it now seems to be ballistic in the acceleration department but now headshakes quite frequently(i know, less throttle but...)Has anyone fitted a jap oem damper to their trumpet and what was it off,
only asking as trumpet steering dampers seem v rare s/hand n b expensive new and ive seen a lot of oem riceburner ones going cheap/being swapped out for ohlins etc.
and im tight for dosh.
cheers.

forx, Triumphs are pretty darn stable. More than likely the headbearings are a tad loose and twisting the RPM rheostat harder is bringing that to light.

hi brad, just been out n nipped it all up a bit but still doing it,somewhere around 2nd into third n 3rd to redline, mind this is on my twisties which are pretty bumpy.
maybe the extra go is highlighting a front suspension prob.
no worries im in the mood for a bit of customising(weather in uk is bit wet to say the least at the mo).
i fall more in love with this bike everyday...
cheers.

Other Motorcycle: anything I can get.
r3d to redline means your doing well over the Ton, where you riding, I blast my 06 and its completely stable, I would check your suss settings and head bearings first.

have to admit at the moment im completely lost on the suss settings, not too sure where to start(having made a right mess of my cbr/bouncy castle).
its as i bought it and seems very very firm to me but never having had a daytona b4 i dunno what it should be like.
seems to handle well to me just a very harsh ride.??.spesh the front.
cheers.

I had the same problem. Red line shifts were quite unsettling (downright scary on less than flat surfaces). Racecomp on here pointed to suspension settings as the culprit and hooked me up with a link. I'll look for it in a bit and post up.

forx, Here's what the owner's manual has for 'standard' settings...

Forks, One turn CCW from fully in for both rebound and compression. I'm showing five bands on fork preload, which is ~ 5/8" showing.

Rear shock, 1.5 turns CCW from fully in for both. Rear spring shows ~ seven threads above preload lock nut. Play with this as I've seen this vary quite a bit, but with similar 'sag' compression. :hammer:

These settings work well for my 190ish lbs. and with an occasional 120 lb. pillion.

Suspension tuning clicky

This is a good read with the settings table you're looking for towards the rear.

Totally changed the way my Daytona rides.
