'02 Speedometer reads 10% fast

I know there have been a bunch of posts on bikes with the speedometer being off, but I have not found any posts that mention if you can correct it on the 2002 model? I figured it was off a bit (5 to 7%) but using a GPS on a straight flat rd keeping my speed constant I was able to confirm that 55mph = 50mph, and 88mph = 80mph. I wanted to know if there was a way to edit this with the tune-boy, or any other tool out there?

As it is almost exactly 10% I can quickly figure it out, subtract the tens number from the whole, so its not a huge deal. I would just prefer to have it correct.

cheers,
Steve

No you can't do anything to recalibrate with tuneboy or whatever
What you need is a
Speedo Healer device which remains permanently wired onto the speed signal wire.
Note that if you correct the indicated speed your measured distance will now be low by the same percentage. They odometer is quite accurate while the speedo has a built-in error component.
It's impossible to deal with the two individually unfortunately.

Although they claim their product fits our 955's, there are no instructions on-line for installation. :(

It's a very simple install - there are only 4 wires to connect.
There are two wires for the power & ground connections then the two wires for input & ouput signals of the speedo signal. Find the connector that feeds from the speedo sender into the main harness - should be a triangular-shaped 3 pin connector:
On the sender harness side, the wire you would want is the pink (or alternatively you can splice into the main harness side, which would be the white/blue wire); simply cut this wire & connect one side to the input & the other to the output wire (obviously the cut end that is closest to the sender will be the input one)
Et Voila!

Hmm, I wonder if they fudge speedos to keep insurance rates down?

There has to be a reason. :rubchin:
