Would $8,000 be too much to pay for a brand-new, never been titled '05 Daytona?

I've been eyeing up a Speed Triple and am now considering a leftover 955 Daytona.

Your opinion, please.

even if it is a year or two old...that price puts you on 1 awesome machine.....there is a local dealer with a Tona for the same price in black...it might be a 06 now that i think of it....ya gotta think, how many GREAT bike out there, brand spanking new can you buy for 8k?.....i recommend that ya snap it up and buy one of my luggage frames for it......as i have one extra that i am going to make. then go out and put some miles on that puppy.

My 06 was I think 8500 OTD. 8K is a good price considering MSRP.

In my opinion--- 8K out the door for a brand new 05 is still a bit high. This past spring I bought a brand new leftover 04 for $7200 OTD complete with the factory 2 year warranty.

It's a great bike--- I love my Daytona. But strategically you should be reminding the dealer that it is a 3 year old bike that is no longer being made. Once you ride it home--- if you pay 8 grand your going to take a big hit on depreciation.

Think of it also this way--- if you insure it and it got stolen (once you've put a few miles on it) the insurance company is going to payoff on a three year old bike. If you finance it be sure to get gap insurance.

Not trying to be a party pooper--- great bike--- I would just negotiate for a better price.

I would have to agree. That is a bit high. You can say it's new with little milage, but the bike has been sitting. Along with it not being made anymore.

upNorth, I think it's pretty fair price, especially if that's the OTD price. While MSL got an excellant deal, it'll depend on how badly the dealer wants the m/c off of the showroom floor at this time. You might be able to use your previous purchases for a little leverage.

Ed Zachary,

Used bikes had higher asking prices than my new one, add the warrenty and 2.9% finance and, well, you get the picture.
