I'm sorry I keep posting stupid questions... But I need to get a new set of tires for my 2002 Daytona CE. First question is on the size of the tire. I have the service manual, but not the owners manual which is what the service manual says to look at for tire size. What size tire should I put on a 2002 SSSA Daytona CE?
Second, I'm looking for a good all around tire, I have searched for suggestions in previous posts but many are looking for a road and track tire. I'm looking for a strictly road tire that will perform well in all weather. I don't plan on knee-dragging, though I would like something that feel comfortable in the corners.
Price is a factor, though safety is most important. A local shop suggested Shinko Advance, but I can't find anything on them.
Last, I was told that it is $100 to $125 to have both tires, mounted / balanced. This seems like a lot to me as I usually pay quite a bit less for car tires... Does this seem high to you?
Thanks for your help,
Steve

I Have a set of Maxxis Supermaxx, put 4000 miles on them so far. Lots of life left in them. Extremely slick when new but lots of nice traction when scrubbed/broken in. I haven't been riding with them in wet weather so I don't know how they perform there. Got on Ebay $185 shipped, $45 mounted/balanced. $100 $125 seems kinda cheap to me, I'm not sure about the Shinko Advance tires I've never heard of them. Here are some reviews on some tires TIRE REVIEWS
There is a user manual HERE, its for a 01 and lower I'm not sure if it is the same.

The $100 to $125 was just for mounting tires, it didn't include the tires.

There are lots of really good tires available for your bike, but...Shinko?! Dunlop/Metzeler/Pirelli/Michelin/Conti/Avon/Bridgestone all make outstanding tires. And you're going to be charged HOW MUCH (!) to mount and balance them? The going rate around here is $20-$30 a wheel, sometimes less if you bought the tires from the dealer.

Thats what I was thinking, I'll talk to a few other guys in town.

Thats why I asked, I can't find anything on them. I have been looking at a few diffrent options... I'm leaning towards the Michelin Pilot Road, Diablo, or Diablo Strada. Most posts I have found from people with the Pilot Road seem to really like them, and I have found some that suggest the Diablo. I think the Diablo Corsa is too aggressive for me, but I may look at the Diablo Corsa III.

Is it 180/50/17 for the rear, or is it 180/55/17? I havn't found any 180/50/17s online... in addition a review of the bike I found in 2002 said that the profile was 55, but that was for the DSSA.
I found the answer to this... The DSSA uses 180/55/17, the CE SSSA uses 190/50/17.
Cheers,
Steve

It has been said that the 180 is better handling than the 190. I would have to agree. From what I have been told the 180 rear was put on as stock from 2002 and up.

In 2002 they decreased the size of the rear rim by .5 in (17 x 5.5) except on the CE, which is (17 x 6). Would there be any problems putting the 180 tire on a 6 in rim? If not I would prefer go with the 180 tire.
Cheers,
Steve

Actually the 180 was only put on the 02 stock. I have an 04 and it came with the 190. When some nails decided to hitch a ride, and went and got new tires I went with the 180. I felt a good difference in the handling.

Just put Pirelli Diablo Stradas on my 04 955i. Absolutely the best tires i've had on this bike. Recommended.
