Hi all,

Just picked up a 2002 Triumph Daytona CE with 4300 mi on it for $5600 US. It’s the first bike I have owned in 17 years and I love it (well I have only put 200 mi on it so far, but still love it).

There are a few things I was wondering, and couldn’t find on the net.
1. What is a good RPM for cruising? I have been keeping mine in the 3000 - 4000 RPM range and don’t know if this is good, bad, or doesn’t matter. (I’m not used to such a high revving motor)
2. How many CE models were made? I’m just wondering how rare they are.
3. Are there any common problems that I should be on the lookout for?

Thanks so much,
Steve

Hey Steve, Where are you in Green Bay? I live/work on the West Side. I just picked up my 02 Daytona CE this week. Only had the chance to put 60 miles on it so far.

Other Motorcycle: anything I can get.
Pick a speed thats comfy for you it will do around 168mph flat stick, I tend to cruise about 4000rpm which is pretty quick on normal roads but you have lots of torque so there ok anywhere, dont be afraid to let it rip in first and second where its safe to do so, the sound just before the limiter is amazing just be aware that you will be doing 100mph in second at just over 10'000rpm. No one can agree how many were made this has come up before and as for common problems, nothing really some have had and they all seem to be electrical, keep the bike well used Batt charged and I think you will be fine oh and welcome to the forum, I now wait to be corrected by the rest of the bandits on here, DD. :-D :-D :-D

I live on the North East side of Green Bay, but work on the South East side, right by Ashland and 172...

Thanks for your reply about RPMs, I wasn't worried about top speed as I don't think I will be doing over 100 on it, or anything close for the next few months. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't casuing any problems running at 3K RPM for long periods of time... I was mostly worried that I could mess something up by running at RPMs this low.

Nah should be fine, just run a lower gear occasionally to blow out the carbon, you dont have to go fast just keep her buzzin in a low gear as I say, occasionally.
