Fact 3:
Triumph is always in the process of developing new models. Lately that has involved around 5-6 new models at all times where 2 and sometimes even 3 of these has been launched in a year. That again tells us that around 2-3 new projects are started each year. Not all of these new projects turn into a roadbike in the end. And some projects can take many years to finish.
Now over to what everyone wants to know. This can still not be confirmed and hence I am mentioning it here rather than under facts. This is related to Fact 3 and it is now safe to say that Triumph at least has done the research needed. A new big Daytona has soon been speculated to death and that is one of the reasons that we haven’t even bothered to commission a mock up. However, the latest I hear is of a 1200cc triple from a source that is close to the factory. But bear in mind that the official Triumph comment is still that there will be no Daytona 1050… No 1050 it is then. I never interrogate my official Triumph sources, but I did specify a 1200cc triple and got the answer that there will be no Daytona 1050. So just keep thinking what you were thinking and Triumph will soon enough let us in on what is going on regarding big news like this.
Bigger than I need or want, but I seem to be in the minority there!

I've contracted a fatal case of new bike fever (it's been an entire year since I've acquired the last one), and all this speculation about a new big Daytona gives me hot flashes. I just saw an '07 black ZX-10R and am trying valiantly to hold out to hear from our friends across the pond. PLEASE tell me SOMETHING is coming!

Stlakid, With the Tiger's encroachment into Sprint ST territory, I think a 1200 would fit there better...maybe?

Sorry all quiet here, there are new models and we have seen the new street triple 675, they are still talking about the new cruser 1400+ twin which should be out later this year, but the tona front is quiet right now, at least in the UK press.

So then. Triumph is plans to come with new models in the future and these models may have bigger and more powerful engines?

If the past happenings of the 05 Speed Triple and the 675 release are any indication, even if Triumph is building a new big Daytona, they won't release any info until around september. I'd say expect the big D at the absolute earliest in fall, more likely fall of 08. They're going to have the new mid-range cruiser, naked 675, and Tiger to toot their horns about in 08. I'll bet they're saving big D for fall 08 now that their other projects are coming out.
I'd also guess that when the new Daytona comes out, they'll finally bump up the Speed Triple to the same motor...
If they don't, some other company is going to make a lighter faster naked that'll take over the mag reviews from the Speed Triple.
