I just picked up a 2002 955i Daytona, and I was wondering. Is there any instrument conversion where I can get an analog speedometer? I really hate digital gauges.

It would have to be a custom job - you won't find anything on the market that will be plug & play. (Issues I list below with the MIL would be the same for whatever you would replace the OEM with)

Coincidentally have a gauge cluster from early model with an integrated electronic but analog display speedo.
gauge cluster for sale

I think that it would be easy enough to splice in all the valid signals for the gauges & idiot lights & this particular speedo would even drive off the late model sender as it will calibrate to any input signal.

The only real issue I see is that the ECM looks at the instrument panel & will post errors (& MIL light) if it doesn't see the correct impedance
These would be
fuel level light circuit; possible difference in tach input & speedo ciccuit and temp gauge input.

However this wouldnt have any affect on the bike performance and I think the gauges should still work.
I could certainly help identify which wires connect to what.

The other thing of course would be the mechanical fitment, whether that would shoe-horn in to your fairing. Probably would need a custom bracket (if it would physically fit in the space)

Hi DEcosse,

I was speaking with my mechanic this afternoon when I was at the dealership (heat killed my battery today), and he explained to me how this would unfortunately not work as the computer would be throwing codes. It's a real shame because I really like the instrument cluster you have. Thanks for your input though.
