The PC3 is a piggy-back type controller. It is a piece of harware that resides on the bike & is a modifier to whatever tune is in the native ECM.
Tuneboy TuneEdit is a software/ firmware programming system that allows you to modfy the ECM program directly. This operates on a cell by cell basis with values for each element of the Throttle position vs rpm for fuel & ignition. It does not matter what tune you start from as your newly modified map will now be its own custom element. It is of course easier to start with something that seems close & modify from there.
It has incredible versatility - you can modify an individual cell or a group of cells by the same increment. For example if you have a zone that is operating rich (maybe in the low rpm or mid-range area) you can group those cells and modify together in one go.
If you don't want to adjust the primary tables you can simply use the 'trim' function to adjust by a given % for the cells you apply trim to.
You are supplied with the base Triumph maps that you can start with then modify from there - or reload at any time.
Ideally you have your bike on a dyno & modify the map based on the data from that. But the system comes with a datalogger function, so even without a dyno, you can ride then make adjustments based on your accumulated plots.
Check out the
Tuneboy website - lots of info there & you can even download the software & play with it without having to purchase anything. You only pay when you need to purchase the cable and the TuneEdit key for your own ECM.
You will also find out there maps already done by others that are typically available freely in 'swap' shops (like T595.net for example) The other nice thing about Tuneboy is that it will even use a PC3 map that has been developed & it will convert it for direct write to the ECM. You also get the Diagnostic screen too which displays all your bikes sensor information & error codes etc.
