I was just wondering what you guys had had your Daytonas up to. I went for a nice ride around Lake Okeechobee yesterday with a few buddies. I couldn't keep up with the 2 ZX-10s and the Busa I was riding with. I was at about 165mph and they were catching me and leaving me behind. I noticed that my clutch was slipping bad when I got up over 130. I need to check into that. I do think if the clutch was up to par I could get 175, maybe 180 out of the Daytona. Anyone?

To be honest I've never had mine topped out, too dangerous on the street but I did see 140 for a second or two on an open stretch of I-20 way east of Atlanta before I turned chicken s*1* and backed off to preserve my license. Maybe a track day soon...

The highest I've seen my speedo read was 168...it might have gone higher, but my attention was focused elsewhere when I was going that fast.
I'll be the first to tell you...and Stealthy1 should back it up....you won't catch a ZX-10R or a Busa on a Tona. We ride regularly with a guy on a 10 and another on a Busa...try as we might, there's not a chance in the world we can keep up with them when they're WOT. As far as litre bikes go, Daytonas are on the bottom end with respect to top speed.

I've reached 158 but had to shut it down. Traffic was coming up very quickly! I've read somewhere somebodys top speed was 165. Still plenty fast, I'd have to go with them on that. I dont think my bike had much more in it.

I have been at 270 km/h (168 mph) a couple of times, highway and Interlagos track day at full throttle.
Although accelerates faster up to 240 km/h can not stay with a ZX9R above that. Guess will never be faster than a ZX10 or Busa.

At least not on a straightaway...but invite them to spirited ride through some twisties and see what happens. :-D

Twisties? Have you ever been to South Florida? I think there is a turn here somewhere. I just haven't been able to find it yet.

Probably stand a good chance against a Busa...not so much against a 10.

Just drop about 9 teeth off of the rear sproket. I'll let some one else try it first though.

GPS verified 149 and then it just stops accelerating, these speedo's are very optimistic BTW. I'm convinced that if I go down a tooth in the front and up a tooth in the back I will actually increase my top speed as I had plenty of rpms left, just not enough power to push it up faster against the wind. I highly doubt a stock daytona can go 160, most of the bike specs you read are on media bikes that always seem to have a little more oomph to sandbag the numbers in publications.
