Hi all,

i'm looking to do a tail conversion on my '99 daytona but all the conversion kits i'm finding are for '02 and newer. Does anyone know of any kits for '99. Or does anyone know if I can use an '02 kit with a little hackery?

Cheers,

Karl

I looked and looked for my '98 and I couldn't find anything that interested me. I briefly considered the fender eliminator from Skyking. But I thought I would take my chances with my dremel first. I would have to dremel off the fender anyway so I wasn't going to lose anything. I did it in less than an hour and i'm really happy with the results. I took the metal license plate bracket off. Removed the reflector under the license plate light, drilled a couple of holes and mounted the license plate bracket directly under the light. Then took a dremel and cut off everything lower than the plate. Then sanded the edges. It looks good, like it was made that way, and best of all it's free. Just watch out for the molten plastic that flies when you dremel the plastic. I was covered in it.

This may not help you but I went through the same process of looking for a fender eliminator and found nothing that I liked.

You don't need a kit. I just hacked up my 2000 and the rear fender cuts off easily almost as if it was made to be cut. You just need to fashion a plate holder from some sheet steel, and you are in business. The only tools I used were a dremel, hack saw and a bastard file.

There are different levels of removal. You can cut a little off and be good, or what I opted for; the buzz cut. Really cleans up the rear end.

Of the kits that are out there, they still require you to cut up the rear end. The only thing they are selling then, is a plate mount and a signal holder. Both of which you can easily make yourself.
