i would check to see if there is play in the fan...can it move back and forth.....it there a possibility that it is being pushed back into the headder?...thats my first though...i would replace it as soon as possible...its only going to get worse and the vibration will destroy the bearing....let us know how it turns out...
Hey Luiz. This problem is common on ZX-12's ( i used to run an extremely modified '00 model) especially if an aftermarket exhaust is fitted, seems logical that it'd happen to Daytona's too.
Usually happens if you do a lot of slow city riding where the bike stays at a high temp. You can either wrap the header pipes in header wrap (if they are made of stainless steel, do not use it on Ti) or get one of Mr Muzzy's stainless fans. They work well but are a little noisier than the plastic. I'd email 'em and see if they'll ship to you, they shipped a heap of stuff to me in Australia with no problems.
Hope that helps
Bill
Muzzy's fan arrived. Will replace the original next week holyday. The heat resistant gasket that comes with the fan is a little bigger than the hub, the installation instructions calling for the edges to be "feathered" but keeping the guard free. No drawing to refer. Any hint?
Replaced origanal fan with that from Muzzy;
Follows picture of the original one. Summer temperatures pic at 37 to 40 C, city and twisting roads uphill being rode. Radiator temperatires always normal;
Fan damage was noticed by rattling noise.

That thread was from 13 years ago. Muzzys stopped trading some time ago
