Hi

Taking delivery of my 955i Daytona this week... new 05 model... and wondered if I'm allowed to do my own servicing without invalidating the warranty. I've been working on my own bikes, Ducatis, Triumphs etc. for years, and would hate to hand it over to a dealer I don't particularly trust just because it's new. Would this have to be a private arrangement with the dealer, or is it just impossible?

On the subject, any UK owners have a recommendation for dealer in the Swindon/Bristol area? I'm getting my bike from Fowlers, but they don't have a great reputation AFAIK, and I'm not a great fan of Taylors either (although I haven't been into the new Swindon shop, I know them from their old place in Chippenham.)

Finally, I went looking for a Haynes manual this morning, and found one for the carb motors and one for early FI models. Is there another one for the later FI models, or are they all much the same?

Stu, I took my '04 D955i in for the first 500 mile check. I don't think it'll be at the dealer's 'till valve adjustment time. I'm just keeping my reciepts and log when maintenance was done.

Except for a few dealer set-up items I fixed when it arrived at it's new home, I haven't had any problems. For the record, I closely, but not exactly followed the break-in.

Common items to check when you get it home are:
-tire pressure
-suspension settings
-battery cable terminations

Have fun with your new bike.

Hi Stu
I got my '06 'tona from Fowlers too. Sales service is great but after sales service sucks. I took mine back after a niggle with the airbox after a couple of months and they managed to scratch the LH side fairing and crack the nose fairing in the process. 3 weeks later (yes - 3 'kin weeks....!!!! )I had the bike back with not even an apology but in good as new condition (all new panels). After a letter to the dealership I got a 60 pound discount off the next service.... not good all in all and still no apology. I tend to go to Bevans of Cardiff now - been great up to now but they are a little bit away from you - still, nice ride out to get there from you.

As for service manuals I got mine from e-bay;
Manual
No haynes manuals out yet as far as I can see.

Good luck with the bike and take care.

Cheers
Si

ps;
If you want a copy of the disc with the manual on it, PM me your details and I'll post it off to you, no charge - I'll sort it out in work at their expense :upthumb:
