Going for new tires on the Daytona over the winter and would like to hear some feedback on these or any other tires (tyres) being used on Daytonas for more ST riding and some aggressive riding. Thanks!!

AV45/46's are great sport touring tires. Lasting up to 12k miles for touring. They have very decent grip in corners once warmed up, though not race oriented tires and hold well in the wet. I've been using them for about four years and love em.

Other Motorcycle: anything I can get.
When they came out a couple of years ago I fitted them on my FJ1200, as they made the 16" rear, I mainly used the bike for distance touring as that is what the FJ is made for and found them to be exellent in the wet and long lasting, I would recommend them but as a sports bike tyre I would not know, as i never tried them on track, I would say for winter go for it.

Got em on the D1200. They were fine.Worked well on a big heavy bike like that. I once de laminated a Bridgestone touring in Germany on it.

Assuming you are talking about the Azaro 45/46 Sport Touring model, I would probably not try any track days with them. They wouldn't be any worse than any other good Sport-Touring tire, but they have other models better suited for track days or even just Sport riding. But for just about everything else on the street they're hard to beat! They wear GREAT, the front's don't cup (hear that Bridgstone) They have good grip and people who 'do' ride in the wet stuff say they work quite well. What I liked about them was their turn in......It's fast! I also liked the mileage you get with them. There isn't a tire out there that can really claim to wear longer than a set of Azaro 45/46's. You will be well pleased.

Here's the latest on the Azaro 45/46 from that link.....

I just got back from a 1600 mile long weekend with the new Avon's on & here's what I think of 'em...
We had lot's of rain for the first 3 days, and the Azaros were excellent in it. A couple of times I tried to break the rear loose on purpose, just to see how the wet acceleration would be...and it refused to break loose unless I really whacked the throttle. The rain got really heavy at times and they held fine on all types of terrain. Great rain tire.
In the dry stuff, they cornered really well...they love to turn in quickly...maybe just a bit squirrelly on the downhill increasing radius turns (but what isn't?), but they adjust really nicely with just a touch of throttle or push on the bars. We hit a bunch of corners with gravel and they held really well through that stuff too. Braking response was pretty good. I did manage to skid the front once (just for a quick screech) in order to avoid a visit with the constabulatories...grabbed the front break quick & hard on a downhill straightaway at about 80mph...but never lost control..no wavering, just stayed straight. Night and day compared to the 057's!
Now the negative...they have a really stiff sidewall, which made them hard to mount. And because of that when you hit the bumps you really feel them. Every rock, bump and groove is felt through the bars and your tail. If you're looking for a soft riding highway tire pick something else. If you want really good turn-in and excellent rain traction, I'd recommend them!

Charlie...

I'm running them on my D1200, nice handling, but my Tona is used mostly for sport touring as well.

Brooksie,
for a sports touring tyre not a full sports tyre they are great.

I used about 3 sets on my Gixxer 600 and 2 sets I think on the Sprint, I'm currently on my 4th set of Pilot Powers with 1 set of Qualifiers in between.

The Avon Azaro is a good wearing and neutral handling tyre with excellent dry grip (with Sprint HP at least) and also very good wet grip.

I think they are an excellent sports tourer, they don't turn in as fast as a Power or Qualifier but are still pretty good.

The best I ever managed was about 6500 kilometres out of a rear tyre but that is the most I have ever acheived out of any tyre.

I normally average around 4,500kms out of the rear Pilot Power if that is any indication.

I have picks of em all in my album.
(crappy Bridgestones excepted, I changed them before it wore out).

I mostly use the Daytona as a distance bike that can do corners very well. I like what I am hearing about the Avons and am going with them this winter. Thanks for all the great info guys!!!

i had avons on the tt600 and they were ace, i've just bought a set for the blade, st rear and sport tyre for the front should be 'interesting' and i will do some trackdays on em as well

in my opinion modern tyres are all good just treat all tyres with respect for the first 500 miles till you know them and most people can't get the full use out of 'soft' tyres anyways!!
