can anyone tell me of an oil what is just has good but less expensive. I believe its a sales thing for triumph.

If they are referring to the Mobile 1 MX4T then that is way too much. My dealer wants $8/qt and you can usually find it at most of the large chain auto parts stores for around $6/qt. As far as I know, the MX4T is actually recommended by Triumph.

so i wonder if the mx that you are talking about is the same...at $8. qt

I worked at an auto parts store for 5 years so I had some inside connections to research this question. You can get the Mobil synthetic 10w-40 recommended through any good retailer. But it is still pricey. The reason is they dont offer that weight synthetic in their regular line. You can buy synthetic Castrol 10w-40 in 5 quart containers at walmart for $21. All the specs and ratings are the same. Stay away from any other viscosity as they contain friction modifiers and have the "mileage friendly" sunburst symbol. The friction modifiers are hell on a wet clutch!
