Hi Guys
I posted this over on the Speed Triple forum - not too much interest there, most seem to have newer bikes with digital speedos already.

Digital Speedo Upgrade

Anyway - perhaps this is of interest to Daytona owners to replace the horribly inaccurate OEM cable mechnical drive speedo. This will replace your Analog face gauge with something very similar aesthetcially but with a calibratable digital unit. Paint the bezel black & you may not even notice it's not OEM at casual glance.

Don't let my one minor faux-pas (breaking the switch) in my own process put you off - I took one for the team in the cause of investigation! :-D

Speedo is ~ $275, drive kit is ~ $50 (not incl the digital gear indicator)

If anyone would like more detail, or if I can answer questions, go ahead & read the other thread first then ask them here (or PM me if you really want to tackle this)

Nice write up...thanks for sharing.

It doesn't do my digital tach a bit of good, but I can appreciate someone who's not afraid to hack into their hardware! :upthumb:

How do the magnets mount on the sprocket bolts?

They are a fairly snug fit in the socket head but not such that I would trust them to stay there - I used a tiny spot of quick-set epoxy on the tip and should be able to break them out easy enough when I need to.

There's also another speedometer vendor, Koso North America who sells complete bolts (in different sizes) with a regular hex head with a magnet insert for their sensors - those could be a consideration if you didn't want to 'gum up" the OEM sprocket bolts and just replace them entirely. I'm not afraid to mix n match different pieces from different sources :-D
