I'm heading to Oklahoma and back in October. Is there anything Daytona-specific I should do to my bike to make it happy during this trip? I know modern bikes are extremely reliable, but I'd hate to end up broken down for lack of a simple precaution. Thank you!
Steve

Steve, Outside of tools to adjust the chain and some chain lube I can't think of a maintenance item to care for.

Thank you, Brad. Judging from the lack of replies, I suppose the bike's a good 'un. I've had it since new, and will have the 6000 mile service done the end of next week. I CAN"T WAIT FOR THIS TRIP!!! :-D

Inspect and lube your clutch and throttle cables even if it is new.

Runner, how do you mount the Givi case on the Triumph rack? It would be perfect for me if I could fit a top box.

Runner--
You're right, the Daytona rules as a tourer. I notice you have a Sargent seat; I just removed the Triumph gel seat and installed a Sargent today. In fact, I am so impressed with their service and quality that I am going to post a new thread to give them props, since I was unsure about them until receiving/installing the seat.
Did you use a tank bag? I have the complete soft set from Triumph and really like the saddle bags--which kept the contents dry during Florida rains on a recent 1400 mi. trip--but the tank bag is tall and kind of annoys me. Like I'm riding the bike with a, well I don't know, like my parent's fat poodle is sitting on the tank and I have to reach around it to grab the bars. I'd like to find a less obtrusive option.
Also, did you take a bike cover? I never thought about it, but was recently advised to add it to the kit...
The Kit:
Tools (my own assortment)
Chain lube
Side stand puck
Throttle rocker
Owner's manual
Electrical tape
Rain suit
Disc brake lock
Sleeping bag/cook kit (I'm trying out KOA and their "Kabins" on some nights)
Book of short stories
Laundry detergent
Hand cleaner
Flashlight
Tire plugs and pump
????
Looks like you had a great trip! I'll be hitting Tennessee myself, along with Georgia and Arkansas, and the unsung roads of eastern Oklahoma.

Do you have bar risers? If not, you'll want those.
I went on an 840 miler over the weekend by strapping down a gym bag and putting necessities in that. I'm digging those teknic bags though.
Edit: I forgot to reply to the original question. I didn't go very far, so I wasn't worried about maintenance other than chain lube.
If I were you, I'd have a way to fix a flat tire though. I keep meaning to toss a peice of tubing in the underseat in case I might run out of gas. I got so lost this weekend, I was afraid I might have needed that.

No bar risers. I thought about it but didn't want them on a three day, 1400 mile trip throughout Florida and I can take eight days for this ride. Plus it seems that the longer you ride the Daytona, the more adjusted your body becomes to it's ergos.
Of course, there's always the chance I'll come back from this and immediately trade in for a Rocket III!
