OK so went into the Triumph dealer and had a test on a D955i, enjoyed it and got talking deals, I bought my S4 for £3999 in March I love it and would not normally part ex a six month old bike, BUT the dealer will give me £3000 for it and has knocked the very beautiful Black Daytona down to £5500 with a seat cowl fitted, I have done the deal, now heres the question, Have I got a good deal in your opinion, anything I should know?do? I know I will be riding the torque instead of the revs from now on but anything else that I should be wary of, all opinions greatfully recieved, DD :???: :-D

Interesting response, what it the standard gearing?
I'm thinking that my 2005 model Daytona needs a smaller front sprocket for my style of riding and for the areas I ride in (twisty mountain passes).
Do Triumph dealers generally carry one tooth smaller sprockets or is this an aftermarket special (generally).
Is the K&N filter addition really noticeable or is it wishful thinking?
Has anyone added iridium plugs and see a difference?
All comments appreciated.
Linz :-)

Standard gearing is 18/42 for the modern Daytonas. I dropped one tooth in front and saw a good gain of low end. Hungry for more, I just ordered a 44 toother for the rear :-D
Dropping one tooth in the front is roughly equivelent of raising the rear by 2 1/2 teeth.
As for the original question of the post- I couldn't tell you if its a good deal or not.....you paid in crazy Brit dollars
In my experience, if you are happy at the end of the deal...then it was a good deal.

I'd say you did allright. Drop the gearing for more oomph. Though I find my 04 model has plenty of oomph.

With 1.89 on the pound, it seems like the price is about 10,395.00 dollars. With your trade coming up to $5,670.00 dollars, you have a $4725.00 dollar difference. Sounds like the dealer is going full list on you. If this is an '05, I paid $9500.00 out the door including sales tax for my Black on Black this year. That equates to about 5026.45 British, I think. Not a real bad price or trade value, since they would be taking a discontinued bike for a discontinued bike. The S4 is the last of a breed. If I had my way (and the money) I'd keep it and get a bank note for the next generation Daytona if that ever happens, a Sprint or maybe a 675. You already have a great British bike, so it's not like you're without. See if they' deal down to about 5000.00 pounds and keep your S4 brother.

I think what we are hitting against here brooksie is the price differential between the UK and USA, at the beginning of this year the daytona was a shade under £8000, they are still advertised at this price at some dealers, the discount on mine was down to £5999, I got the latest reduction to £5500 pretty easy but the dealer I tried a 675 at was talking £2795 for the S4, I think for the UK with our tax system I have done OK, It was a big decision to trade the S4 as I still love the bike, but taking into account the service and tyres it will need soon as well, I am happy

Welcome to the D955i club, best bike in the world.
If you've picked up a new 06 for £5500 then it's excellent value. They're £7500 list so £2k off is good. I picked a yellow one up for £5700 last month which I thought was an unbeatable deal.

When a deal is done I would only drive myself crazy thinking It over and then asking for advice. Enjoy your new ride. That is what is really important.
