Hi,

I've got a '96 speed trip but I'm after a Daytona. Which is the best though? The model developed over quite a few years (15?) and there were quite a few changes.

I definitely prefer the single-sided swing arm, but they made the daytona for a few years with double sided, didnt they? (2001-2003?) Question is; is the 2003 machine much bette than the 2001?

If anyone could point me in the direction of a decent model history then I'd be very grateful.

Mike

The Double sided was only on the 2002. I am not sure what the differences are between the 01 and 03. I know that the 04 and 05 are the same, and the 06 has slighlty better engine components but looks the same as the 04 and 05.

They apparently only switched to the double sided swingarm to save some weight to try and compete with the Jap rocketships - luckily they realised that the Triumph was the better true ROAD bike anyway....there was nothing to compete against! ( The single arm does look better though!)

Mike, The DSSA '02 D955i is likely the best of the best, but just slightly IMHO. (The SSSA bikes' eccentric chain adjustment actually raises/lowers the rear of the bike.) Any of the T595/Daytonas, if clean are a great choice. The '02 (and later) models got a bump in power, but in Torque magazine's article End of an Era a roll on comparo between a '97 and a '06 was essentially identical.

Dad_, The '02 is joined at the hip with the '04 and neither of 'em are going anywhere. Get your undertail installed yet?

Dad_, I just went with something that didn't take so long to load a pic of.

Full leathers! Here's to low humidity. :-g It's a struggle just to get out of the mesh Joe Rocket.

BadMikey, Seriously, I havent heard anyone complain about the recent models 00-05, but I would like a 02' SE. For the green, even though they have the DSSA. (Like Flatspins) :hihi:
