I am going to buy a new Triumph maybe in Feburary. I have reseached both bikes and now just need to make up my mind.
I'm going to post this in the Sprint ST forum also.
I missed the Triumph Tour Truck last weekend in Seattle because I was at a bike rally in southern oregon.
What are your thoughts ?
I'm wanting to wait till the 2007's come out.
Thanks for the help.

There won't be a 2007 Daytona 955i. But I am sure you would be able to pick up an 05 or 06 for a good price. I guess it would be of what kind of ride you are looking for The Daytona is a more aggressive bike compared to the Sprint. If you are looking for more comfort, then go for the Sprint.

Hey Tech:
Thanks for the response, are you saying the Triumph is not going to make the 955i for 2007?
And I am leaning towards the ST because I want to make some long trips with it, but I sure would like to have 25 more hp that the 955i has on the ST.
Thanks
jr.

The Daytona 955i's last year is 2006. This is due to the new 675 selling so well, and Triumph's limited production facilities.
If the added HP is what you want then buy the Daytona and throw on a set of heli bars, or TBR riser bars, and you will be very close to the riding position of the Sprint.
I liked the Daytona VS. the Sprint due to the horsepower and overall more sporting chassis. I like the ability to add riser bars and go on long trips if I want, and conversely, having an excellent sportbike the rest of the time!

jr., It's a pretty close horse race since the Sprint ST (and S3) got the displacement increase and suspension upgrade in '05. The Daytona still has a bigger top end rush, but the Sprint, even with the added weight is a match down low-mid.
While the D955i is pretty nice to pillion riders for a sport bike, it's no match to the Sprint in that category.

Thanks guys, now you are making it even more difficult to choose. I do like the idea of adding risers and bars to the 955i. Most of the trips will be around 200 miles a day. I have a big V-twin cruiser for cross county stuff, and a 750 Katana for running around town as my grocery getter.
This will be a bike to run out of town with the sport bike group I belong to. I have made up my mind on a Triumph because of the low number of owners when you get around a group of sport bikers, and also I really love the lines and details of the bike.
I'll be ready to pull the trigger in Feburary and will be making a trip to portland or seattle to pick one up.
Again thanks for all the help.

well considering you have a cruiser and you aer looking for a fun sporty bike to run with the sportbike group I say daytona. See if you can pick up a new 05' for a good price. I love mine and think a sprint would be less sporty for my taste but great for cross country. Hope this helps.

The ST is the new Daytona. My '05 Daytona is fairly comfortable with stock equipment. I do have a Triuimph gel seat, tall shield, hugger and panel protectors for the Oxford Humpback saddle bags I use. I have a set of HeliBars to put on this fall, I just can't stay off the bike long enough to install them. Got the bike out the door at $8500.00, with the additional stuff, probably looking at around $9500.00. I do like the Sprint, but I like the 955 motor power, torque and it has great tank range. Plus, it is a bit cheaper to insure being under 1000cc. Can't go wrong with either.

The Daytona is not all that bad for distance rides....yes you want to get off it now and then for a few minutes , but hey you have to stop for gas anyway.....just keep a sharp eye out for the cagers TTHEY ARE OUT TO GET YOU!!!
