I've had my bike(2003 955i) for a few months and I want to change the oil and filter. My question is since the recommended oil is a pain to acquire, not to mention pricey, is there any other recommendations? Was thinking of Mobile 1!

Humbug, Mobil1 comes in different specs. The product used in cars isn't made to the same spec as Mobil1 4T for motorcycles, which is JASO MA. The MA classification deems it okay to use with wet clutchs. There is also JASO T903 and MB, BTW.

Oil can usually be found at any of the m/c dealers, but is seldom if ever cheap. Japawhat02, recently found Repsol 10W40 online at a good price for the '02 D955i...it's working just fine.

I'm using Mobil1 4T in the '04 because it's still in warranty and I'm changing oil every 3K miles...maybe a waste of $, but I just can't go with the 6K interval.

Brad

Bradtx,
Thanks for the reply, I was intending to use Mobil 1 4T. Since, like you I want to ensure that the oil is changed every 3K.

Humbug, what oil is recommended for the 03? My 04 manual recommends Mobile 1 4t.

Try here.

CYCLE GEAR CLICKY

I was at the local store here and they carried it. I saw on there site, if you goto store locations, they have a few stores in Florida.

I don't think, not using M1 4t will do anything bad, that is just their rec for some reason. As long as it is a synth and 10w40. Motul is suppose to be a good oil, my friend uses that stuff in his 05- Duc 999 and likes it.
