Hi, I am new to the site and would appreciate any advice. I've got a 2000 Daytona 955i which I love above all other things. My problem is it has begun to start kind of hard and after the engine is warm, after riding mid range rpms for any length of time it stalls at idle. Quite embarrassing. I changed the plugs and air filter to no avail. Any ideas?

Thanks

I have the 1200 Daytona, the 'older' carb model so not sure if there's any possibility this is applicable.

I got stranded the other day. I've been riding this bike for perhaps 1K miles so far since buying it. No problems.

It stalled on me, on a hill at a busy traffic light

After a long time fiddling I noticed that the fuel lever (petcock) has a screw in the center of it and the screw was loose. It seems that somehow my fuel was partially shut-off even though the dial pointed to 'on'.

I tightened the screw, turned the petcock around a bit to make sure I knew where 'on' was, then pointed the dial to 'on' and tightened down the screw. All is well now.

I'd suspect that your problem can't be that simple, but I write this anyway, just FYI. Point was that I had been running but I just didn't have a full-open fuel supply so it choked-out and stalled.

What do you think guys? CO2 in need of adjustment? Idle needs adjustment? Just a shot in the dark, I don't know much about the FI models.

Looks your bike needs an idle control valve renewal and or associated o-rings change; Refer to Haynes maintenance manual.
If you wish i can send you a scanned copy of this part.

I also have a 2000 Daytona and experienced similar problems about a year ago.

I would occasionally stall when the bike was already warm (even after riding after 30min), and I would be downshifting while coming to a stop.

I had my CO2 adjusted by the dealer and the problem for me became 95% fixed...I have stalled it on rare occasion, once in a blue moon.

Most dealers should be able to do this almost free of charge.

Hope this helps.

*Note: I just moved from CT to CA (Bay area), and my bike's in storage until early July...I can't wait to ride up here. I'll miss the long rides up Rte 7 into Vermont and around the New England area.

Thanks for the replies. I think the CO2 option bears looking into. Luckily I have a very cool dealer locally.
