What do you mean "cool like it should?" Give some details as the the issue please. Maybe you should replace the coolant or try a different brand.

The bike heats up really fast as soon as I get off the highway into the city or where ever I ride slow and under highway speeds.

Mine also seems to run hot compared to my last bike (Ducati ST2) but at least I know the fan works! Normal cruising temp in hot weather is about 182 f. - is this normal?

while Im cruising highway speeds Im around 180F but get me in town or traffic and up to 220F and fan kicks on in no time. I think these bikes run a little hot. Just double check the coolant and make sure there is no leaking or anything. I guess I will just have to ride faster

Sounds like the norm for Daytonas. They do run hot. The only way I'd be concerned is if the fan does not cool the engine. I noticed my bike runs about 10-degrees hotter than my buddies GSX-R.

Cool. Sounds like I am not the only one who has this going on. Sounds normal for the breed.....

Backlash, In the '02 D955i and the RC51 we're going to replace coolant and try some Water Wetter. They're both due for a change and the RC51 runs even hotter than the D955is, which are pretty much like everyone else's on the forum.
