I have just acquired a Daytona 9551 2004 model. Idle very low and cuts out when cold. the owners handbook does not show where to make idle adjustments.

Please help.

lesterg, There is a way to manually increase idle, but it is not recommended. Best advice is to take it to a dealer and ensure there's no other problems. If not, the dealer can properly increase idle. FWIW, the '02 and '04 D955is here idle between 1K and 1.1K RPM.

let it idle for 7 mins (or longer). The bikes ecu is capable of relearning, or so Im told by a triumph mechanic, and weather affects it so it might need to relearn to the now, warmer weather. Don't know if it works as I have not tried it,but worth a shot anyways

My dealer told me that in order to reset the ECU, you need to start the bike without touching the throttle, then let it warm up to the point where the fan kicks on, then let it sit for twelve minutes. After which, the "brain" will reset itself to your specific altitude, humidity, yadda yadda.

I tried the idle suggestions to see whether it would reset the ECU, but no luck.

Went to the Triumph dealership and they checked the mapping, the mapping was not recommended for any Triumph. They downloaded the recommended Triumph mapping and she is now running smooth.

in my experiance most Daytona idle problems are either plugs or the sync on the throttle bodies.....these bikes are very sensitive to being out of sync.

One can only wonder who and why, right? Glad you got it fixed! When I first read your post, it sounded as though you might have a vacuum leak, though those will usually cause the idle fluctuate a up and down a bit (or a lot).
