Ok i am starting to feel stupid here. two weeks ago I was about to change the plugs on my daytona. pulled airbox and then bam... could not get the 18MM spark plug wrench into the spark tube. How did i arrive at 18MM as the size? well i bought what i understand to be the right replacement plugs: NGK DPR8EA-9 It has an 18MM hex on it.

I never even thought to try the tool that is in the tool kit becuase that is like a 16MM and i assumed that the specified replacement plug was the same size.

I order a triumph spark plug wrench assuming that would solve the problem. Nope they sent me the same wrench as I have in the tool kit.

What gives? did NGK change the size of the hex from 16 to 18MM? am i missing something else here?

Argh!!! here is the update: Factory supplied owners manual calls for the DPR8EA plug. A bunch of places on the web who sell plugs call for same thing.

the factory SERVICE manual calls for CR9EK. Went to NGK's websit and sure as hell they have the correct plug listed for the 2002-2004 955i Daytona as the CR9EK.

Triumph has clearly made a mistake in their owners manual.

apologies to all of those that wasted their time reading this and the prior post
