So, as many know- this is my first Triumph...a 2003 955i, and a question has popped up. Why, if my fuel tank holds 5.5 gallons, is my fuel light coming on after only 3.5 gallons are used???
Is this set this way by the factory, or is my light malfunctioning?
TIA,
Ski

Cool, at least it's not broken!
So, how many miles are you all getting out of your tanks?
I did an average the other day of 42 MPG...good, bad or average?

Ski, That too sounds good...the '04 gets 42 MPG and the '02 a pre plug/air filter change 40 MPG. Both bikes were about 3 MPG better before E10 arrived in the area.

skiandclimb......mine had the issue from the start...sometimes even on a full tank. it did this AS i was about to drive away when i bought it. just bring it in and they replace a sender tube under the tank that measures fuel level. i had mine done when i got the 6k service done, i just got used to watching the mileage and not to trust the light. after the fix i now run near the +150 mile mark when the light comes on. before it was all over the place. mine was done under warranty so i don't know how much it might be to replace...or how hard it is to do...hope this helps....

Me too. I don't understand. I thought it was to come on when you had 1 litre which is slightly more than a gallon of fuel left.
When my light comes on I assume that I have a solid 60 miles left but I've actually gone 80 miles after the fuel light has come on.

My 96 D12's tank holds 6.5 gallons but the low fuel light would come on at 3.5 gallons (nearly half a tank left) which I found pretty annoying so I pulled the leads off the sensor and just reset the tripmeter at each fillup. I usually get around 160 miles to reserve. I know this doesn't really relate to a 955 but I havn't heard of a fuel light yet that didn't come on waaaaay too early.

I get a round about 200 miles to a tank, which is after filling up with gas 4.2 gallons. I have made it to 238 miles on a tank but you need to be where your phone works.
