humbug, That procedure (a generic one I use on my toy Mustangs) worked on my '04 to clear a hard fault sensed by a loose (+) battery cable.
After my bike's problem, the '02 also developed a loose (+) cable. It would stall (mine didn't) and generate a soft fault, as the lamp wasn't lit on a subsequent restart.
I think silvoor has a point. If your hand injury allows, ride it and see what happens on the restart. If you're still unable to ride, try this iffy idea...start the bike, let it warm a bit and then run the engine to 3.5K RPM for a few seconds and let it continure to run for a bit. After turning the engine off, restart and see if the lamp lights...or not.
