Let's see some chatter! What mods did you do during the winter? Get any winter rides in? What's the coldest temperature you're willing to ride in? For me it's high 40s / low 50s. Anyone do any track days lately?

I am waiting on your opinions of the Sky King risers. I am close to making a decision, and I would like to know about looks, and installation. I am sure that the riding position will be much better, as it couldn't get much worse for me.

I'll be sure to post my opinion after installation. Also, am now thinking about doing something about the mirrors - can't see around my shoulders. I've got bar-ends on my Guzzis, but I'm hesitating to do bar-ends on the Daytona. I think SkyKing makes extenders, which I may check out. Any other ideas?

The mirrors are useless unless you want to see your elbows. I tried spacers on my old VFR, and while they worked well, they were hideous. I find that I have a harder time turning my head for lane changes due to the riding position. Couple that with useless mirrors, and nothing good could happen. I am sure that the risers would improve a lot of this, but it is going to take some getting used to in order to make a conscious effort to turn my head. I am about 6", and I find that I need to take one hand off the bar to turn my head comfortably. Have you noticed this?

I just shift my body AWAY from the mirror I want to check. Am still leaning toward the bar-ends.

jbhotchkiss - something I have noticed is that a lot of people view the topice, but very few will place a reply. Maybe we all are dreaming of the upcoming ride and want to make the visit short and sweet. Then there are some of us that spend about all day at work on this site looking for stuff to reply to here. Only my thoughts........... :???:

Temperature doesn't bother me at all. Decent gear and a set of thermals see to that. As long as the roads are dry. not too much salt and I've got time to give the bike a good wash afterwards I'll go out several degrees below freezing.
Didn't make any mods this winter but previous winter I stripped the forks, had then rechromed & ground to repair a bad stone chip. Fitted uprated progressive springs and gaiters to prevent it happening again.
First time out thought the brakes weren't working as the dive was so much reduced!!

Temperature? heck I started riding my CE to work when it got above 35f in the mornings. no additional heat, just good riding gear with the liners zipped in. Of course around here we ride whenever there's no ice on the roads.

There are three riders where I work and the contest is to see who has the nerve to be the first one to ride to work after the first of the year. I live in Vancouver Washington and we start work very early so there is no chance for the temp to rise before ridding in. It has to be 40 or better b-4 i ride in unless i have no choice.
