Hi all , normally Im on the S3 forum , but thinking of a new Daytona , as my wife would like to be a passenger and the S3 is a little , well , wild should I say , I like the looks of the 05/06 Daytona 955 , just how is it to own and ride? Also is there a reliability question and do you love them as much as the S3 community loves their triples?
Help me decide please.....
dilema.

I love my trumpet! I've always been a Harley man and now I find myself riding my Daytona as much as possible- always looking for a reason to tear apart my HD so I can jump on my Triumph. I'm 6'2", 240 lbs and I think the Daytona is extremely comfortable, my back doesn't ache and if my arms get tired, I just lay my gut against the tank and relax  . My wife also wants to jump on the back every chance she gets and she owns her own bike as well. I'm very impressed with the handling but I also just got it and am still getting used to the whole "sport bike" thing. Hope this helps a little. :-D

Oh yeah, I like my 05 Daytona even more than my 05 S3. Why? I like to go fast and the Daytona wants to run fast.
My turbo Busa is overkill and not fun to ride. 5th gear power wheelies are a little too much.
I have the TOR can and the MAP on my Daytona. At about 110 MPH in 5th gear it really starts to growl and pick up speed quickly when it's getting on the cam.
Never had one single problem with the bike in 4K miles so far.
If I had it to do again I'd pass on the S3 and go for the 05 955i Daytona. Did I mention a Daytona will spank a 1050 S3 badly? I know cause I have both.
Mad`

I have ridden my fiance on the back, it does alright, she just didn't like it. She didn't like the forward feeling and that she sat too high. That is why I need to get a cruiser as well.(real good excuse to get a second bike, haha)
And fine by me, That means I was able to take the back pegs off and not worry about puttng them back on.
Oh, and I love this bike. It is fun to take into the hills, and with a nice exhaust, man it sounds incredible. Sure it isn't like the jap liters, but you know what, WHo Cares. It still holds its own and it is distinctive

Hey toesnose, thinking of a Daytona, eh? I can answer your question as far as a passenger goes. All I have had until this past Nov has been supersport bikes. I just don't see why you think your wife will enjoy the ride any better on the Daytona than the S3. My wife hated all of my sportbikes. Well, I take that back, she just thought every bike I bought just kept getting more and more uncomfy. The only one she thought was halfway decent was my F2! :hammer: Anyways, if you're considering a decent ride for a passenger, and still wanting to stay sporty, why not go with the Sprint ST? My wife has ridden on the S3 a couple of times now, and she actually enjoys it more than the last few I've had, but let's face it, neither the S3 or the Daytona are great for carrying passengers. I hope to get something sooner than later to accomodate a passenger as well. But, I think it will have to wait until a time comes when I can keep the S3 and get something else. Let's face it, if you're truly talking passenger riding, cruisers are the way to go. I'm hoping to one day add the Rocket III to sit along side the S3!!! :-D

Thanks for the feedback all!! ***** , hard choices , I love the S3,test rode a demo at the dealership , have not ridden the Daytona yet , cheap ,Im not into cruisers , love the sportbikes tooooo much ,has to be either one of the two , so suppose I should organise a demo on the Daytona and then go from there , although now the (rumours) of the new Daytona supposedly being released gives me another delema........life is hard , but ohhhh so exciting.Another question , if I Fit the high mount carbon exhaust to the Daytona , can I keep the back pegs ?? :???:

Depends on what Manufacturer High mount exhaust you get. I know for a fact that the Wolf you can keep the pegs. The Triumph TOR brand you cannot without finding a spacer kit for it. The other brands I can't say for sure.
You are talking about the Daytona 675 I presume? Good luck trying to find one. I think most of them are on order from people who have put a downpayment on them already.

With the TORs the pegs won't fit. But you can find a spacer kit to use the pegs.
As for a new ltre Daytona. That is just rumors, if you want a bike now, I wouldn't even think about a new model yet. In my opinion, the earliest would be 2008,2009. So if you have that kind of patience more power to you. I know I don't. And like I said it is a rumor so far. You could wait, then find out the rumor was false.
Trust me on this feeling, I really want that Dodge Challenger that is coming out. I don't have the patience to wait to get it. So I am goingto get a 06 Mustang GT. With the Challenger rumor is 2008 release, but the other rumor that looks to be true is they are coming out with a limited run and price tag way above 30k. To high for me.
