Anybody have any ideas on lower pegs for an '04 Daytona 955?
I just put my bike up for sale because of the long distance comfort is not something I can live with.
I would love to keep it if I can squeeze a bit more leg room out of it.

I would also like to know if an aftermarket seat will raise me up a bit.

1/2" each for the peg down and the seat up would be great.

Thanks.

I don't have an answer for you. However, I lowered the pegs on my Hayabusa which is what you are looking to do. I looked at the pegs on every motorcycle I came across. I ended up putting Buell footpegs on the Busa. Suzuki TLR 1000 pegs would also work. I'm sure there are many more that would fit the Busa and lower the pegs about 1/2".
Look around, you will find some. You might want to check out the Buell pegs and TLR 1000 pegs. Both these pegs drop 1/2' instead of being straight.

Good point. I wasn't thinking of just the peg itself. the whole assembly would be $$$.
Thanks

There are adjustable rearsets out there. They are typically around 500.

There are other sets but here, they sell the Gilles set.

Hi,

You might want to look at the Buell pegs. The ZRX1200 riders have eaten that mod up. You can go to zrxoa.org and find the thread. I did look at using the Buell pegs on a 2005 Sprint ST, but it looked to be a sufficient enough challenge that I deferred (and I have a helluva a machinist at my disposal....just too much trouble to do). I don't know how similar the peg parts/spacing are on the 04 Daytona. I'm unaware of what the TLR pegs are like. The beauty of the Buell pegs is they drop a full 1"! The mod is simple and VERY effective for the ZRX, and the SET of pegs was $20. If your interested I'll dig up the online Buell dealer, part is something like 10006.AD It does make a tremendous difference, and I can vouch that it can make the difference between keeping/selling. The custom rear sets are so expensive I just can't justify spending like that....too many other toys.

I had the same kind of sensation when I tried the '05 Daytona model in a local Triumph showroom. The overall riding position was pretty okay, very much like the one in my current ride, but the pegs felt a bit like I was sitting on a Suzuki, a bit too high for my taste.

So there are sets to fix that, like the Gilles set, but what about the ground clearance when cornering? Does that have any significant effect on the cornering capabilities of the bike?
Just curious, at least for now. I don't think I'm that fast a track rider yet, anyway....

The buell xb12s pegs do have a drop to them. Two strikes against them, 1. the dealer wouldn't order them for me with out me there in person.(not even with a cc) 2. my high pipe doesn't allow much room below the peg.

BTW, they are about 30 bucks.

If you can live with what it would do to the upper body angle, a higher seat would have to be an easier way to go than messing with the pegs. There aren't any controls that have to be properly set up on a seat.

Take your seat to an auto upholsterer, and explain what you want. A little thicker foam and a new cover, and there you are. I did something similar with an old Honda I used to have. I don't think it even cost $100.

Just an FYI, I have LSL rearsets on my 02 955i and they moved the pegs down and back.

Check out speigler.
